Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is one of the oldest forms of medicine where whole plants or parts of plants are used for their therapeutic value. Plants contain a variety of chemical compounds that act upon the body and are used to promote health and well-being. Herbal medicine is used in all cultures in various forms and many people in the world use herbal medicine as their primary form of healthcare.

Most people at some time or other have used herbal medicine, probably without realising or thinking of it as "herbal medicine". Have you ever used chamomile tea bags for sore eyes, or drunk chamomile tea for a good night's sleep? Have you drunk mint tea to help your digestion, rubbed a dock leaf on a nettle sting or used honey for a sore throat? All these are herbal remedies which have been around for thousands of years.

When thinking of herbal medicine people are often confused or a bit wary of it. However, most people have heard of or even cooked with herbs such as parsley, rosemary, sage, coriander, dill etc. All these herbs have therapeutic properties and are used in herbal medicine. Herbal medicine is not scary; it is the most natural form of medicine known to man.

If you are tired of recurring symptoms or you're feeling sluggish and not sure exactly what is wrong, then herbal medicine may be the answer for you.  Herbal medicine is suitable for all ages from babies to the elderly.
